SOFA Gallery Barbara Thaxter

Barbara Thaxter is a self taught pastellist whose favourite subjects are children and animals, especially cats.
In a home which is never without cats, she draws much of her inspiration from them and the cats around the stable yard.
She also enjoys painting cats and kittens met on holiday abroad.
Barbara tries to bring out individual personalities through the eyes, which have always fascinated her. She loves the challenge of capturing a painting from several sources.
Although she mostly paints animals in pastel, she has also used watercolour, acrylics and, in recent years, oils.
As well as being a full member of S.O.F.A. she is also a member of the Society Of Equestrian Artists, and various local societies. She has exhibited successfully at numerous venues over the last few years.
